Extreme weather

The weather is causing big problems for millions of people across America, including California where torrential rain has led to flooding and mudslides, and now, some parts of the West could get up to 12 feet of snow. And if you think it's bad in this country, it's even worse in Europe. NBC's Miguel Almaguer reports from California and Stephanie Gosk reports from London.

Also, President Obama is looking for one final victory on Capitol Hill before he leaves for the holiday: the ratification of a new nuclear arms treaty. There's also news tonight about one of the most popular remedies for the common cold -- echinacea.

And NBC's Kristen Welker has the sweet sound of a community choir that just may be the best of its kind in the nation, from a place that often gets a different kind of publicity.
