Tonight on NBC Nightly News
Journalists are under attack in Egypt after a dramatic escalation of violence last night, covered live by NBC's Brian Williams and Richard Engel. Today, some Egyptians are trying to create an information vacuum, as pro-Democracy protesters struggle to take back ground lost to Mubarak supporters. We'll have more from Brian and Richard, as well as an update on the 76-year old American woman living in Egypt and struggling to protect her home in Tahrir Square.
Also, Andrea Mitchell has the latest U.S. response, and Martin Fletcher reports on protests surging in other Middle Eastern countries.
Plus, Chicago digs out from that massive blizzard as the middle of the country deals with dangerously cold temperatures.

Egypt unrest and world reaction
A mostly peaceful week of protests turned violent Wednesday when supporters of President Hosni Mubarak charged the crowd. Anti-Mubarak protesters fought back. At least one person was killed and hundreds injured in the clashes.
